Enjoy a few moments of pure inspiration with this artfully-created short film of a 1950s-inspired styled wedding shoot. Filmed by Vintage Cinema in collaboration with Beth Chapman of The White Dress by the Shore who styled the shoot, the upbeat video brings to life all the details in this playful wedding sequence, from the sleek Airstream trailer to the vintage-inspired dresses by Ivy and Aster, Coren Moore and J. Crew. "We channeled Mad Men's Betty Draper," says Chapman, "and and conjured up playful attire that complemented the rustic setting. How's this for upgrading the bling on your engagement ring? Alyson Hannigan posed with a brand new ring at the CW, CBS and Showtime 2013 summer party in Los Angeles on Monday.

The sparkler wasn't a standalone gift—it came after a surprise second proposal from Alexis Denisof, her husband of nearly 10 years! She gleefully Tweeted the happy news Sunday night:

The How I Met Your Mother and her actor husband are now planning to renew their vows in honor of their tenth wedding anniversary. She even lightheartedly suggested having ten wedding cakes at the celebration.

But the actual sweet part of a vow renewal is the chance to include children in the festivities, something not lost on Hannigan. The former Buffy the Vampire Slayer costars (they met while filming the show) are parents to daughters Satyana, 4, and Keeva, 14 months.

"Now we get to have our kids at this ceremony," she wrote on Twitter. "It'll be shorter. We'll get to the cake sooner! YAY renewal!!!"

We're just as excited as she is to hear the details of what is sure to be a spirited, warm party. And with the rash of second weddings and vow renewals sweeping Hollywood (Matt Damon, George Lucas, and Amar'e Stoudemire, to name a few), we're happy to see the love spread even further.

Who Should Sit Near The Head Table? My Friends or My Parents’ Older Friends and Family?

Etiquette, Wedding Etiquette, Wedding Reception, Wedding Reception Etiquette  Comments Off on Who Should Sit Near The Head Table? My Friends or My Parents’ Older Friends and Family?
Jul 312013

When assigning your friends and family a seat at your wedding reception, try to make both your guests and parents happy (if possible). Our etiquette experts have a few tips about placing your loved ones in seats they will enjoy in our daily post.

My parents want to seat their older friends and family members in the good seats near the head tables. I don't want to offend my friends, whom I want near me and the dance floor. Where's the compromise?

For the same reasons that you might give up your subway seat to an elderly woman, you should consider conceding to your parents' wishes. To make everyone happy, explain the seating arrangements to your friends. "If you explain the situation in advance, they won't be surprised and hurt when they walk in and find themselves seated at the back of the room," says Sylvia Bigelson, author of The Ties That Bind...And Bind...And Bind (Element Books). Remind your parents that older guests may in fact prefer sitting away from the band because they want a quieter area. Seat your friends (who will be doing most of the dancing) at the prime tables, but have chairs at the edge of the dance floor where the older guests can sit and watch the action.

Should I Send a Gift if I Can’t Attend a Bridal Shower?

Wedding shower gift etiquette

Even if you can't make it to their wedding, you should still send the happy bride and groom a gift from their wedding registry. The same rule doesn't apply when it comes to showers, but our etiquette experts have a few present-giving tips if you want to celebrate anyway.

If I'm invited to a wedding shower but can't attend, should I send a gift?

No, you don't need to send a shower gift to the bride if you can't attend the shower itself. However, as only close friends and family of the bride are usually invited to the shower, chances are you know her well and may want to send her a shower gift to celebrate anyhow. Weddings are the only time that it's required to send a gift, regardless of whether or not you attend the event itself.

If you still wish to send a shower gift, try to send it to the host before the shower is held so that it can be opened with the other gifts; it's a fun way to participate even though you can't be there. If there is a theme, it's nice to play along for the sake of those who do attend, but if your gift won't be opened at the shower it's up to you whether or not you stick to the theme. Many brides have their registry set up by the time a shower is held for them, so you could also choose from that.

Ever since Jennifer Aniston got engaged to Justin Theroux, we've laughed at her crazy stories—he accidentally broke her toe!—and cried with happiness along with her. We even picked out some stunning wedding dress sketches for the gorgeous bride-to-be.

All that excitement doesn't mean they haven't experienced some stormy rumors since Theroux proposed last August. Last month, People reported that their wedding plans, once in full force, had slowed down. Now, with her press tour for her new movie We're the Millers in full swing, our favorite Friend is finally clearing the air.

"We just want to do it when it's perfect, and we're not rushed, and no one is rushing from a job or rushing to a job," she told the Associated Press of tying the knot. "And, you know, we already feel married."

"We have yet to set any date," says Aniston, who was rocking that gigantic rock of an engagement ring.

"There have been no canceled weddings. There have been no postponed weddings. There have been no arguments about where to get married. Just clearing all that up."

We're sure the the speed bumps have only solidified their union! If Aniston's quotes are any indication, their vows will be a mere formality—albeit a highly-anticipated formality. Whenever their work schedules do calm down, we predict they'll get hitched in an intimate wedding in Mexico, one of Aniston's favorite vacation destinations.

Should My Future Mother-in-Law Host My Bridal Shower?

Etiquette, Showers & Parties, Wedding Etiquette, Wedding Party  Comments Off on Should My Future Mother-in-Law Host My Bridal Shower?
Jul 292013

You'll have many pre-wedding parties leading up to the big "I do," but family members shouldn't be listed as a hostess on any of the shower invitations. Instead, give your bridesmaids and family friends a chance to plan these gifting celebrations!

Is it proper etiquette for a mother-in-law to host a bridal shower?

No. Members of the couple's immediate family (sisters, mothers and grandmothers) shouldn't host showers, since the whole point of this particular party is to add to the bride's trousseau, and your families shouldn't be the ones asking for presents on your behalf. Non-related bridesmaids, friends of your mother or your fiancé's mother, or more distant relatives generally assume the hostess duties.
