Wedding Registry Upgrades

Before you go register-crazy with the scanning gun, take a moment to think about your new home, new life, and soon-to-be new husband. Sure, you might already have the essentials accounted for, but think of your registry as an opportunity to upgrade your towels, shams, and dinnerware to something that you both will truly love.

So throw out the faded towels monogrammed with your maiden name and register for spa-quality linens in a gender-neutral shade. Another registry must is your dinnerware! With marriage comes a lifetime of meals for two so you better be prepared. Mix up your plain white china with a totally fun, yet still practical dinnerware pattern. We suggest investing in something that feels both formal and contemporary. And, if you are already registering for plates, you might as well upgrade your entire table setting with glassware, silverware, and table linens. When making this tabletop wish list, continue to mix up the classics and remember to pick items that suit your new style as a married couple.

After registering for these 10 upgraded essentials, you'll be ready to invite all of your best friends over for your first dinner party as newlyweds!

Solange Knowles Shares Intimate Photos from Her Brazilian Honeymoon!

After a wedding that stopped the world just two weeks ago, Solange Knowles has taken to Instagram to reveal photos from her Brazilian honeymoon. The songstress and style maven is basking in marital bliss with husband Alan Ferguson in Bahia, Brazil.

The couple's first stop was in Trancoso — an out of this world getaway that was formerly a fishing village. The place has become a hotspot for jet setters who want to lay out on semi-deserted beaches at prices rivaling those of the French Riviera. The New York Times profiled the destination back in March 2010, noting that famous faces like Gisele Bündchen, Diane von Furstenberg, and Naomi Campbell love to vacation there.

The duo stayed at UXUA: the sole boutique hotel in the historic main square of Trancoso. 10 private casas, a commitment to sustainable tourism, private cooking lessons, the Casa do Arvore honeymoon suite, and an incredibly relaxed dress code are just some of the main draw-ins.

Next, they jetted off to Corumbau: a paradise located in the Northeast region of Brazil. The name means "distant place" in the Pataxó native language and the deserted beach spans over nine miles. One can also spend time with the Pataxó tribe and get a sense of their culture and way of life — a once in a lifetime moment that seems aligned with Knowles and Ferguson's authentic and grounded disposition.

The star shared several photos from her post-wedding getaway, giving fans a glimpse into their epic trip:

Always looking out.....

And it looks like Knowles enjoyed every moment of her vacation, captioning one photo: "Thank you Trancoso for being the most magical lil place to "honey our moon".... Brazil could not have been kinder to us and our love....."

Snooki is now a married woman! The former Jersey Shore star tied the knot with fiancé Jionni LaValle at the Venetian in Garfield, New Jersey on Saturday, November 29th as confirmed by Us Weekly.

The happy couple threw a Great Gatsby-inspired wedding, continuing the theme from Polizzi's bridal shower. The reality star wore not one, but two dresses from Bridal Reflections. She walked down the aisle wearing an off-white lace gown from Eve of Milady Couture (see the exact dress, style 4319, here!) before she changed into a glam Ines Di Santo number for the reception.

As expected best friend and former co-star Jenni "JWoww" Farley was a bridesmaid along with some other ladies. Her bridal party donned black bow-adorned gowns. After vows were exchanged, everyone partied to the sounds of Time Machine: an 18-piece band.

Though Polizzi is known for her fun-loving ways, she was composed and calm leading up to her big day. Back in March 2012, she told Us Weekly, "It's not that hard to plan a wedding. For me, it's just that I don't let myself get stressed out. I just enjoy the moment and I try to be positive about everything."

Polizzi and LaValle got engaged over two and a half years ago back in March 2012 after a year of dating. The pair are proud parents to Lorenzo, 2 years old, and Giovanna Marie, 3 months.

Wedding Cupcakes

In addition to your dress, venue, flowers and food, your wedding cake is often one of the first things that come to mind when you begin planning your big day. But what if you and your fiancé aren't fans of cake? Do you still have to serve one? Here's what experts have to say about the traditional multiple-tiered dessert.

If you're not into the traditional wedding cake, there's good news: You have many other options for your big-day dessert. You can trade in the cake for other sweets like cookies, macaroons, and ice cream. They key is to make sure you have enough to make a statement, and to feed all of your hungry guests.

One idea is to include a dessert bar or station that features sweets hand-picked by you and your fiancé. Not only will your guests love the assortment of indulgences, it's also a great way to flaunt your personality. In addition to a dessert bar, you can also have a chocolate fountain surrounded by strawberries, marshmallows, pretzels, and cookies. Have the fountain have several levels; it will resemble the established tiered wedding cake. (Though, this route can be a bit messy.)

If you still want to have the cake-cutting moment, consider having a simple one-tiered cake to use for photo-ops. After all, many smaller confections are still wedding-worthy.

Cut: The proportions and finish of a polished diamond (also called make). Cut can also mean shape, as in emerald cut or marquise cut. Proportions are the size and angle relationships between the facets and different parts of the stone. Finish includes polish and details of facet shape and placement. One of the four C's of diamonds.

Pretty ranunculuses are starting to come into season again, which definitely helps make the beginning of winter a whole lot brighter. These blossoms come in a range of bright, saturated color, ranging from deep, moody purples and burgundies to the palest pinks and bright whites. Sometimes their petals can be dense and tightly packed, while other varieties are lighter, almost tissue-soft. Their arching stems can look graceful or more whimsical, depending on how the blooms are arranged. If you love ranunculuses as much as we do, check out these seven beautiful bridal bouquets incorporating the bloom.

White Ranunculuses Bouquet (above): This classic arrangement combines a cluster of all-white ranunculuses surrounded by a "collar" of lily of the valley.

Colorful Ranunculus Bouquet: Ranunculuses in shades of pink, orange, peach, and white begin to take on a more nautical vibe with the addition of a navy-and-white striped grosgrain ribbon.

Coral Bouquet with Ranunculuses: Vibrant coral-pink ranunculuses really pop when mixed with garden roses, sweet peas, and peonies.

Lush Bouquet with Ranuncluses: This stunning, oversize bouquet combines ranuncluses with dahlias, garden roses, astrantia, and jasmine vines.

White Ranunculus Bouquet: This more organic-looking bouquet combines white ranunculus blossoms as well as ranunculus buds, mixed in with jasmine vines for a textured look.

Ombre Bouquet with Ranuncluses: For a high-drama bouquet, ask your florist to create an ombré look, with ranunculuses in various shades transitioning from light to dark.

Pink Ranunculus Bouquet: This pretty arrangement features pink ranunculuses as well as dahlias, amaranthus, and pepper berries for added texture and depth.

Mother of the Bride Inappropriate Dress

The bride's wedding dress — with no arguments — should be the most beautiful gown being worn that day. So what happens if the mother of the bride wants to wear something that's borderline over the top? Our etiquette expert weigh in below.

Talk to your mom and let her know that although she looks remarkable in the dress she chose, you would prefer if she wore something more simple. Plus, traditionally, the mother of the groom mocks the bride's mother when it comes to length, style, and formality of the dress. So if your mom is planning to wear something flashy, you might be worried that your fiancé's mom will think it's okay to wear something flashy as well.

If there's no budging her on the dress choice, try to let it go. Don't look at it as her trying to upstage you, look at it as her way of being equally excited as you are for this big day. After all, her daughter is about to get married! She probably views this day as an important moment in her life — and she wants to dress like it, too.

If you're worried that your mom's dress is going to outshine your wedding gown, don't! All eyes will be on you and your groom from the second you make your grand entrance at the ceremony to the moment you and your new hubby make your exit.

Tennis Star Andy Murray Is Engaged to Kim Sears!

Game, set, match! Tennis star Andy Murray proposed to longtime girlfriend Kim Sears and she said yes, as reported by BBC News earlier this week.

The British news outlet believes that the Scottish-born athlete and his newly-minted fiancée actually became engaged a week before that, but neither have made any comment just yet.

Murray and Sears have been a couple for close to nine years, showing that their decision to tie the knot is far from a whirlwind. BBC News states that the pair met at the U.S. Open in 2005 and she has since been present at a slew of his matches. One of their most memorable moments is at Wimbledon 2013 when cameras caught Murray kissing Sears after beating Novak Djokovic in the Men's Singles Final.

He told U.K. newspaper The Telegraph after winning against Lleyton Hewitt and Andy Roddick in 2006, "It's the first time Kim has come to a tournament. That made me quite relaxed. I'll have to take her to some more tournaments."

His tennis matches aren't the only place where the twosome have been spotted together, as he frequently brings the British beauty (who is the daughter of former Lawn Tennis Association head of women's tennis Nigel Sears) along to formal events. Last year, the two got dressed up and headed to Buckingham Palace where Murray was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), as well as having received a medal from Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge.

Rumors started circulating of the couple's engagement in January of this year, when Murray tweeted, "We are getting married just after Wimbledon. Should be a great day." According to E! News, he quickly followed up with "I'm not getting married (yet)," disappointing many of the pair's fans.

Congrats to the happy couple!

Best proposal stories

It's that time of year again: Engagement season! The majority of marriage proposals happen during the holidays, and with Thanksgiving over, we wanted to get right into the swing of things by asking our Facebook followers to share proposal photos and stories. It was hard, but we narrowed down our favorite submissions to these fabulous four. Read on and enjoy!

1. A true home run.
It's pretty special to be able to set foot on a baseball field, but to get proposed to on one? Now that's a moment to remember! Bride Briana Russo shared this sweet photo, adding that her fiancé "had our whole family in the stands cheering us on!"

2. An old-world surprise.
The sign in this photo, shared by bride Bethany O'Toole, practically begs to be part of a proposal! In her case, it was. "The afternoon started with delectable afternoon tea followed by a walk in an English country garden," she shared, along with the picture. "As we came across a derelict chapel with a sign on the door saying "and they lived happily ever after....." he presented a stunning Art Deco engagement ring and asked me to be his wife. Magical. Perfect." We have to agree!

3. A moment to face your fears.
For bride Ashley Williams' fiancé, commitment wasn't scary — but a boat was. Before she and her then-boyfriend set off for a birthday trip in Cozumel, a pal asked them to bring their finest whites for a photo shoot on his boat after they arrived. Williams jumped at the chance, and shared the rest of the story, along with photos from the proposal, including this one. "I thought it would be such a wonderful thing to have for our memories. Gorgeous pictures in an incredible setting," she wrote. "My fiancé is not big on boats and was somewhat nervous, little did I know where the nerves were really coming from. We set sail the day before my birthday. We stopped in front of a beautiful hotel and our friend asked that we stand at the front of the boat to get that hotel in the background. We oblige. We take a couple of posed photos and then our friend says, 'Talk amongst yourselves, let me get some action shots.' Just then, my now fiancé starts telling me how much he loves me and how lucky we are to have each other. I'm still unaware of what is really happening. I'm just agreeing, 'Yes we are lucky, I love you too.' Then he drops on his knee and pulls out a little black box. I instantly burst into tears and said yes! He planted the seed four months beforehand with his friend messaging me about this pictures. We are headed back to Mexico to get married in January."

4. A winter wonderland.
While visiting her now-fiancé in Colorado, bride Mandy Stephan found out she and her love were also going on a surprise trip to Manitou Springs. Not long into the trip, she wrote, along with this cute photo, "We rode the railway up to the top of Pike's Peak and had a stranger take our picture in the -15 degree temp. Nick had her move the camera to video on his phone and got down on his knee! I cried, said yes, of course, and then we ran frozen back to ride down to the bottom and enjoy the rest of our trip engaged!"
