Being a bridesmaid is an unforgettable honor, but a bridesmaid also pitches in left and right — from attending your dress fittings, planning your bachelorette party and bridal shower, and supporting you on your big day. To help thank your girls, we asked Deborah Lloyd, President and Chief Creative Officer of Kate Spade New York, for her top tips on how to find bridesmaids gifts that your girls will love.
Keep it personal.
"Being a bridesmaid is a special honor," says Lloyd. "And for a bride, the gift she gives her bridesmaids should feel personal, and not like an afterthought. A monogrammed or engraved piece is an effortless way to make a gift feel unique." Personalized gifts come at a variety of price-points, too, from personalized stationery or an engraved mirror compact to an engraved bangle or necklace.
Avoid tying the gift to your wedding.
The designer's biggest suggestion is to skip gifts that focus too much on the details of your nuptials. "I would avoid gifting anything that is too kitschy or too specific to the actual wedding. The gift should be focused on the recipient."
Jewelry always makes a charming gift.
Finding one gift to suit each personality in your bridal party is a tough task, but Lloyd shares a guaranteed crowd-pleaser: "One of my favorite gifts to give is a charm bracelet or charm necklace. The possibilities are almost endless when it comes to customizing these pieces. You can gift a personally curated piece of jewelry in the same beautiful packaging to each bridesmaid, but each piece is individually thought out and each charm has a special meaning."
Consider opting for an experience rather than a thing.
Lloyd also suggests experiential gifts, noting that your hardworking bridesmaids are sure to appreciate some relaxation. "In the months leading up to your big day, your bridesmaids take on a lot of tasks and responsibilities. I think its always a nice gesture to treat them to a relaxing experience after the wedding is over, whether it is a night on the town with dinner and a show, or an indulgent day at the spa."
