Do you have any burning bridal beauty questions? BRIDES beauty columnist Drew Barrymore — actress, producer, and founder of Flower Beauty — is here to answer all of your pressing skin care, fitness, and makeup application concerns. From her secret to pulling off a mid-wedding hair change to photo tips for the camera shy bride, here's what she's recommending this month.

Q: Did you change your hair from wedding to reception? I'm thinking of going more relaxed for the dance floor.
Drew Barrymore:
I didn't, but having changed looks on the fly for jobs, I know the rules of transitional hair. First, the less product you use, the less likely you'll have dents after removing bands and bobby pins. Also, if your hair is dry before you put it up, that will help. Easy transitions that I've seen are a bun pulled out into a ponytail and a half-up style to an all-down.

Q: I freeze in front of a camera. Any expert tricks for looking more comfortable?
Drew:
Take as many photos as you can after the ceremony. With only a party ahead of you, you'll be more relaxed. Another tip: Make sure your photographer takes tons of shots of the "in between" moments, not just the posed ones. Candids are a shy girl's best friend.

Q: Sparkly eye shadow on your wedding day: a do or a don't? If it's a do, how do you make it look subtle and pretty?
Drew:
I say it's a do! But choose a product that has fine mica powder (not larger glitter squares) for a sophisticated sparkle. Chanel has a great cream, and Nars makes a wonderful powder, and you can get either in a variety of shimmering colors. Then, pick a lipstick without shimmer so it doesn't compete. Shine bright and be happy!

Do you have any burning bridal beauty questions? Brides beauty columnist Drew Barrymore — actress, producer, and founder of Flower Beauty — is here to answer all of your pressing skin care, fitness, and makeup application concerns. From her secret to pulling off bold red lipstick to contouring makeup tricks, here's what she's recommending this month.

Q: When you're wearing deep-red lipstick, how do you do the rest of your makeup? I'd like to try it for my fall wedding but don't want to look like a "painted lady," as my grandmother would say.
Drew Barrymore: I love a bold lip for a wedding, and the best way to offset it is with your eye makeup. Focus on your lashes rather than liner or shadow. Mascara will make your eyes pop while still giving you a sweet, less "made up" look, unlike the sultry vibe of a smoky eye, which, in my opinion, can be too much with a dark lip and not as appropriate for a wedding. Be bold, be sweet, be happy!

Q: Do you contour? They say it's flattering in photos, but it looks tricky. Is there a way to keep it natural-ish?
Drew: Yes! I use a creamy formula to create the shadow, not powder. Make Up for Ever Pan Stick works great; just choose a shade darker than your skin. To keep it light, I put a little on my finger and blend it into the sunken line directly below my cheekbone. You can also do a faint application under your jaw. I love creams because you can blend out the edges and create a more natural look.

Q: How can I make my perfume last all day?
Drew: Start with your application. Spray after you put on lotion to help it hold better, and hit anywhere that's warm: your neck, your hair, your wrists (but don't rub it in; it "bruises" the scent and prevents it from diffusing). Use eau de parfum, which is more concentrated and will last longer than eau de toilette. You can also reapply. Flower has three that come in a mini rollerball bottle, so you can keep them in your clutch for easy touch-ups.

Do you have any burning bridal beauty questions? Brides beauty columnist Drew Barrymore — actress, producer, and founder of Flower Beauty — is here to answer all of your pressing skin care, fitness, and makeup application concerns. From her secrets for long lashes to her genius hair coloring tips, here's what she's recommending this month.

Q: I want amazing lashes for my wedding. What are your favorite tricks for making them look longer and thicker?
Drew Barrymore: The right mascara can work magic. My favorite is Flower Beauty's Outstretched Lengthening Mascara. It's been a game changer for me! If you add layer after layer, you can build up to what I call "carpet lashes," which look not only longer but also thicker. Try it on a regular night out and see if you still want to add some individual false lashes for the big day. But for me, three coats of this totally does the trick.

Q: I've had every hair color under the sun, but I'd like to go back to my natural shade for my wedding. How can I grow out my hair without having roots for the next year?
Drew: Okay, here's my suggestion: Grow out your roots for one to two months, then go to a salon and have them match your natural color on the rest of your hair. You need to be feeling confident before your wedding day, and there's simply no reason to walk around with two-toned hair. Know who you are, marching down that aisle in style, and keep hair worries at bay. Best of luck to you on your wonderful day!

Q: I'm looking for wedding-day inspiration. Are there any beauty icons you like to reference when you're getting ready for an important event?
Drew: Yes! Whether I'm craving a '60s cat eye or a simple side part with a low bun, I often find myself looking at iconic movie stars or shots by great photographers for ideas — bombshell Sophia Loren, queen of the cat eye, totally inspired my own heavy top-lid liner looks. I even like to tack up the images when I'm getting ready. It's great for you to have a clear picture in your mind of what you want to look like, but it's even more helpful if there's an actual picture for your glam team to use as a reference. Google around, print it out, and pin it up!

Do you have any burning bridal beauty questions? Brides beauty columnist Drew Barrymore — actress, producer, and founder of Flower Beauty — is here to answer all of your pressing skin care, fitness, and makeup application concerns. From her Hollywood cover-up secrets to her favorite workout (that would be fun for the most gym-averse) and necessary diet additions, here's what she's recommending this month.

Q: How do I use concealer on my dark circles without it emphasizing my lines?
Drew Barrymore: This is my Hollywood magic trick: I put a light and white base under my undereye concealer. One great product is Serge Lutens Quant-á-Soi Makeup Base. (It's expensive, I know!) Take a makeup brush and lightly apply a little bit of this brightening miracle over your dark circles, covering only the purple. Blend out the edges. Then layer a liquid foundation or a smooth concealer that matches your skin tone over it. (Anything that's too rough will scrape off the white, so use something super creamy.) Then do the rest of your makeup as you normally would — and you'll love your new look, sans dark circles!

Q: I want to tone up for my wedding, but I'm seriously allergic to the gym. How do I motivate myself when it's the last thing I feel like doing?
Drew: I'm allergic to the gym too, so I feel ya, sister! But I found a workout with my girlfriends that I do post pregnancy, and I actually look forward to it: Zumba! You sweat, it's great cardio, and it really is an effective workout. Plus it's so happy, humbling, and spirited that it makes you feel as good as it makes you look. Find a local class and I swear you won't dread it like every other workout.

Q: I'd like to work juices into my wedding diet (in the name of clear skin and a leaner physique), but I don't know where to start. Got any advice?
Drew: Yes, I have a great juice to recommend. It's called the Glowing Green Smoothie, a specialty of Kimberly Snyder, my favorite L.A.-based nutritionist; you can find the recipe in her book, The Beauty Detox Solution. I don't recommend a full juice diet, especially right before your wedding. But if you do just this green drink in the morning, it will help you get glowing skin and balance your diet. When I'm not pregnant, I have one every day. Enjoy!

Big congratulations are in order for Brides beauty columnist and all-around awesome lady Drew Barrymore! She and Will Kopelman, her husband of nearly two years, welcomed a second daughter, whom they named Frankie, on April 22.

"Happy to announce that today we are the proud parents of our second daughter, Frankie Barrymore Kopelman," the couple announced in a statement. "Olive has a new little sister, and everyone is healthy and happy!"

Less than two weeks ago, Barrymore celebrated her impending arrival with a baby shower at her Hollywood Hills home. Among the 50 guests were famous pals including Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz, and Gwyneth Paltrow. A source told People at the time that she was "so ready for this baby!" Luckily, she didn't have to wait too much longer!

Ever since the pregnant-and-engaged actress, beauty guru, and author tied the knot in a custom Chanel gown in June 2012, we've loved watching her happily settle into her marriage and family life. She's called herself "really lucky" to find Kopelman, and has been effusive about her adorable daughter Olive and being pregnant again.

"It is easier because when you're first pregnant you're just terrified of every single thing that's happening, so this time you're busy, you're focusing on the kid, the time goes a little bit faster ... not a lot faster, but it helps," she revealed to People in January. She also divulged an adorable anecdote about soon-to-be-big-sis Olive: "She points to my stomach and says 'baby' and she's actually feeding her little baby doll with the bottle so that'll be good practice," she said. "She just really loves babies and kids."

Congratulations to the happy family!

Drew Barrymore — actress, beauty guru, wife, mother, and Brides columnist — celebrated the expected arrival of her second child this weekend at a baby shower with 50 guests in her Hollywood Hills home. Among the A-list mix were famous friends Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow, and, of course, husband Will Kopelman.

Her second daughter (Drew is already a mom to 18-month-old daughter Olive) is expected to arrive in the next two weeks, and while she "had a blast" at her shower, a source told People, she is "so ready for this baby!"

We're sure Barrymore's baby shower was just as darling as her wedding — after all she said "I do" with a bun in the oven, while rocking a custom Chanel gown! Considering her adorable maternity style (did you see her in a rosy embellished Monique Lhuillier dress at the Golden Globes?), it's probably safe to assume Barrymore picked out a dress that was just as cute as Ciara's Naeem Khan baby shower look.

This isn't the only friend-filled party the movie star mom celebrated recently. Just last month she traveled to Napa for a girls' getaway with besties Diaz and Witherspoon (as proven by her Instagram of Diaz at a Napa vineyard, below).

Overall, Drew seems to be a lot more relaxed during this pregnancy.

We can't wait to see pictures from the shower and to welcome Barrymore's second girl into the world!

Brides beauty columnist Drew Barrymore—actress, producer, and founder of Flower Beauty—is here to answer your questions.

Q: Can you recommend an at-home skin treatment? A spa day doesn't quite fit into my budget.

Drew Barrymore: Yes! It's been nine months since my last facial (working pregnant mom), so doing one at home is often my only option. Two things I love: Kate Somerville's ExfoliKate (watch out, it stings a bit!) and a Tatcha Deep Hydrating Lifting Mask ($28). I look like Hannibal Lecter in front of my husband, but after I watch one 30-minute episode of The Colbert Report with that mask on, I look and feel better. Happy hydrating!

Q I'm getting married on the beach. What hairstyle will look polished and withstand wind and humidity? I don't want it to be fussy or fall down.

DB: It actually took me five minutes to do my hair on my wedding day. My friend threw it up in a bun, and we left it at that. You should style your hair in a way that makes you not think about it. Anything with too much upkeep is silly; enhanced natural gets my vote. For a beach wedding, do some loose waves and try a beach spray, which will help put your hair in the element.

Q: I want to jump on the colored-eyeliner trend for my wedding, but I don't want to look crazy in my photos. How can I apply it to look pretty and subtle?

DB: Pick colors that are chic, not cheap. Anything too bright or pastel might be too much of a statement on your special day. So if you're thinking blue, try a navy. If you want purple, go aubergine. If you want green, choose a shade of khaki or olive. You can pair any of those colors with a red or nude lip and you'll look totally sophisticated. P.S.: Play with products beforehand and have fun!

Ask Drew Barrymore Bridal Beauty Column

Photo: Doug Inglish/Brydget Mackinney

Meet our new beauty columnist, Drew Barrymore! The actress, producer, and Flower Beauty founder is here and ready to answer your questions.

Q: Is there anything I can do in the week before my wedding to get that bridal glow?

Drew Barrymore: Don't do anything drastic! A cleanse can lead to a cold. Facials can cause breakouts. This is a time to eat well and exercise, because slow and steady wins the race. On your special day, use moisturizer under your makeup to give a dewy look to your skin (like Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré, $28) and wear lip gloss for extra shine. A few nights before, do a hair mask. (Try René Furterer Karité Intense Nourishing Mask, $46.) And have fun! Being happy is always your best look.

Q: I want to do a bold lip. How do I find the right red for me?

DB: It's all about skin tone. You may be better suited for a coral-red or more of a blue-red or a burgundy. Certain neutral reds look good on most skin tones, like our High Shine Lip Color in Rose Bud ($6.98). P.S.: To secure your lipstick before you walk the aisle, blot your color, apply a tiny bit of loose powder, then blot again. Then kiss it all away!

Q: I don't wear much makeup, but I want to step it up for my wedding. How can I look polished while still feeling like myself?

DB: Great question! It reminds me of my best friend, a natural beauty who hates when people put too much makeup on her for functions. I say, if you're a natural girl, stay natural! But here are a few tips for looking great on your special day:

1. Wear a concealer or a tinted moisturizer at most, and stay away from base foundation makeup.
2. Use plenty of waterproof mascara. It won't change the shape of your eyes like eyeliner and shadow can. It will just make them look poppy and pretty.
3. Use a light-pink cream blush, which will let your natural skin shine through and give you a glow.
4. Use a lip butter or gloss so your natural lips come through. (Lipstick can feel like paint.)
5. Match your lips and cheeks in color tone so you don't have too many colors on your face.
6. Have the best day ever!

We've been fans of Drew Barrymore since, well, forever. When it was announced that she and Will Kopelman would tie the knot, we immediately began dreaming up a fantasy wedding gown for our favorite Hollywood icon. (She ended up walking down the aisle in a stunning Chanel wedding gown, which featured a tulle-embroidered floral skirt and a black belt to accent her growing tummy.) Since then, Barrymore has been busy—baby number two is on the way, and Drew's cosmetics line, Flower Beauty, is taking off! Naturally, when we envisioned an ideal celebrity and role model to pioneer our first-ever celebrity column, Drew immediately came to mind.

"Ask Drew," a wedding-day beauty column penned by Barrymore, is set to debut with our February/March issue.

"We are thrilled to have Drew on board to help our brides look and feel their best on their wedding day," said Brides Editor in Chief Keija Minor. "From the minute I met Drew, I knew that she was not only a red carpet legend and beauty, she was also passionate about her new cosmetics line, Flower Beauty, and eager to share her extensive beauty knowledge with other women. Her Brides magazine column, 'Ask Drew,' will give her the opportunity to do just that. She'll be helping brides get ready for one of the most important days of their life."

It seems as though the beauty route was inevitable for the self-proclaimed beauty junkie who "grew up in a makeup chair." She has her own makeup line, Flower Beauty, and Drew's own wedding look was the picture of perfection. We loved everything from her sleek topknot to her rosy cheeks, pink lipstick and perfectly manicured nails. It was exactly how a bride should look on her wedding day: Pretty, fresh and totally herself.

Needless to say, we are very excited—as we're sure you guys are, too—to see what advice the star has in store for us. But the best part of all? You, dear readers, will get to ask her your own bridal beauty questions! Start sending them now to [email protected], and keep picking up the latest issue to see if your questions are featured. In the meantime, if you need something to occupy your time until December 24 when the issue hits stands, check out Flower Beauty's website and Facebook page, which offer tips, tricks and tutorials from Drew herself on how to best apply your makeup.
