In addition to her signature show-stopping details, Maggie Sottero's Fall 2014 bridal runway flaunted new, softer elements and fresh silhouettes.

Forever glam, Sottero's latest gowns featured shimmering details in a variety of shapes: Scalloped beading recalled the vintage-inspired dresses she's embraced over the past few seasons, while brocades, embellished lace, and completely beaded bodices created a regal finishing touch. Whether it was a ball gown with a voluminous skirt and full-on sparkling top or a sleek satin mermaid design with a rhinestone belt, the hint of shine made for a super-luxe collection.

As for the softer pieces, Sottero debuted a few new exciting looks including a cutout, off-the-shoulder sleeve, which created a wonderful draped effect. Blushes, muted grays, and rich ivories also refreshed the range's romantic side.

Desiree Hartsock Exclusive Interview

Desiree won over America's hearts when she was featured as the Bachelorette last year. After getting engaged to Chris Siegfried, she won over Maggie Sottero's heart, too — so much so, that the popular bridal powerhouse is teaming up with Des, a dress designer herself, to create the perfect wedding dress for the reality starlet's big day. Plus, we learned that Des will be designing a capsule collection with Maggie Sottero!

We caught up with the blissfully engaged designer this Bridal Fashion Week to learn more about her upcoming bridal line, life post-Bachelor, and her future nuptials. We also got exclusive details on her relationship with Chris (they're celebrating their one-year anniversary of engagement in the most adorable way!) and what it's like living in Seattle with other fellow Bachelor alums (fun fact: Des and Chris were both hesitant about going on the Bachelorette at first!). Read on to find out about her future wedding dress, collection, and engaged life!

Brides: Why did you want to work with Maggie?

Desiree Hartsock: As a consultant I was able to work with a lot of different designers and I always found that with Maggie — from their dresses to their customer service — everything was always geared towards the bride and making sure the bride's happy, which I always admired.

Brides: When did you start designing wedding dresses?

DH: I knew I wanted to design when I was a sophomore in high school. As I was in school I found a love for bridal, I think it's just the intricate detail and the fact that there's emotion behind the purchase that attracted me to it. When you buy a wedding dress it's not just like you're buying another sweater.

Brides: So I heard you'll be wearing more than one dress one your big day. Can you tell us a little bit about each?

DH: What I would want to wear for my ceremony is completely different from what I need to wear to dance and get down on the dance floor, so I wanted something that's going to be comfortable and allow me to dance freely and have a good time and be in it for 8+ hours.

Brides: What will inspire your wedding dresses?

DH: They both reflect my personality in different ways. The reception dress is very much my design style with an Art Deco influence and the comfortable, wearable silhouette of a sheath gown. The ceremony dress will be a little bit more grand — traditional silhouette but with a modern twist.

Brides: How about the dresses you're designing for Maggie?

DH: The collection is also very much my design style. It was influenced by an Art Deco romance with a ton of details in the beading. The materials and overall aesthetic is very romantic. It's going to be wearable. I think it's also for the girl who wants to be comfortable, but also wants to feel like the most beautiful thing in the world.

Brides: How's the wedding planning coming along, do you know what your ceremony or reception will look like yet?

DH: I'm still figuring it out, but overall I really just want it to be romantic. I mean, I'm a hopeless romantic. I just want it to be like a dream.

Brides: And how's your life been post-Bachelorette with Chris?

DH: Good! It's almost been a year since he proposed. For one year we're going back to Antigua to celebrate, because that's where he proposed. It's been really great.

Brides: Does he partake in planning?

DH: He's involved. He'll always say, "No, whatever you want." He's creative, I'm sure the music will be his thing.

Brides: Are you taking his name?

DH: Yes, I will take his name. We joke and say we'll combine our names and it'll be Siegsock. I mean, Seattle is pretty progressive, so...

Brides: Since moving to Seattle have any of the other Bachelor couples helped with the process?

DH: It's been great, because when we first moved up there it was so nice to be able to connect with Molly and Jason. They've been through it all and they're like a step ahead of us, so we've been able to get a lot of advice, it's been nice. And then Renee Oteri

Brides: Yeah! I saw the pictures. Her wedding looked adorable!

DH: She's so cute.

Brides: You were a witness at the wedding, what was it like?

DH: They knew they wanted to get married, because he was her first boyfriend ever and they just reconnected. They're so cute! The judge was amazing. It was beautiful, her words were better than most weddings I've attended. They said they're own vows and it was so pretty and touching.

Brides: Do you have any advice for brides about finding their dream dress

DH: Stay open minded. You never know what you're going to end up liking. Finding a dress is like finding a man: You have to be open-minded and it may be what you haven't imagined in your head but it's going to be perfect.

P.S. Desiree and Chris recently published a book of poems called Diamonds and Hearts (including ones he wrote while vying for Des's heart on the Bachelorette!). Could they be any cuter?

If there's one bridal designer that always goes for glamour, it's Maggie Sottero. Intricate bead work cascading down the bodice, which appears as if it's wearable fine jewelry, has become her beloved signature. At her Fall 2014 show, those tried-and-true details walked the runway, but with a few fresh updates: An embellished off-the-shoulder sleeve boasted a fresh cut-out at the shoulder, lightweight feathers were arranged in tiers down a vintage-inspired sheath's skirt, and a blouson dress with embroidery at the waist was an airy departure from the bejeweled mermaids and silky bias-cut dresses we've come to know and love from the designer.

Of course, the gem-encrusted exteriors were a major must. We love how Sottero turns her dresses into sparkly pieces of precious jewels, like the two dresses below. The feather-adorned sheath would serve a fun-loving bride well at a country club reception with a vintage theme, while the bedazzled off-the-shoulder gown, would grab everyone's attention at a big black-tie bash.

And that blouson dress, above? It's perfect for a garden wedding or a bohemian tented reception.

A Winter Wedding in Laguna Beach—and the Bride Wore Pink!

Bride and Groom at a California Wedding

Julia and Nicholas's first meeting was classic California: They met riding bikes on the boardwalk at Newport Beach. Eight months later, they were engaged. For Julia's birthday, the couple went on a morning hike in Monarch Beach. Nicholas surprised her with the new camera she'd been dying for, as well as a night at the nearby Ritz Carlton Hotel. Once at the hotel, the couple headed outside to test out Julia's new camera as the sun set. While Julia fiddled with the settings, Nick reached into his pocket and pulled out a letter Julia had written her father when she was little. When she recognized what it was, Julia realized that Nick could only have the letter if her father had given it to Nick himself. When she looked up from the letter, he was down on one knee, ring in hand. Of course she said yes!

A two-year engagement allowed Nick and Julia to go with the flow as they planned their simple, modern wedding. "Since we were getting married four days before Christmas, we wanted a wintery feel that wasn't too over the top," Julia says. "We looked for a venue that would be a blank canvas, allowing us to create whatever setting we wanted." On December 21st, 2012, the couple danced the night away with 175 guests at 7 Degrees in Laguna Beach.

Julia eschewed traditional white for a full-skirted mermaid gown in blush pink. "I wanted something a little different," she says. "I'm by no means a girly girl, but when I saw this gown, I had to have it!" Layer upon layer of chiffon ruffles filled out the dramatic train.

Julia paired her gown with a bouquet of pink roses studded with crystals, white ranunculuses and hydrangeas.

Baby Flower Girl

The couple's 8-month-old daughter served as their (absolutely adorable!) flower girl. "She wasn't quite walking, but she did wonderfully," says Julia. "She smiled at everyone and clapped throughout the ceremony."

The ceremony took place on the rooftop of 7 Degrees, just after sunset. Guests were greeted with a glass of champagne, and then were seated under a tent lit with paper lanterns for the short and sweet ceremony.

Nick and Julia's wedding party was outfitted in shades of gray. The bridesmaids' soft gray gowns complemented Julia's blush pink and carried soft white bouquets.

The reception's cool blue tones gave the space a wintery feel. "We didn't want to waste flowers, so we used succulents in concrete vases and just a few floral arrangements," says the bride.

Bride and Groom's First Dance

The couple's first dance was to an acoustic version of John Legend's "Stay With You." Then, the volume was pumped up and the couple and their friends danced all night. "We had a hard time with my bustle," Julia says, "but my photographer saved the day!"

White Frosted Wedding Cakes

Instead of stacking the tiers of the cake, the couple served four individual cakes in different flavors: White chocolate, vanilla, tiramisu, and red velvet. Clusters of buttercream flowers were the tasty finishing touch.

Bride and Groom's Sparkler Exit

A sparkler send-off was the perfect ending to the evening. "The best compliment I received about our wedding had nothing to do with the details," says Julia. "It was that guests could feel the love we share, and had a wonderful time making memories with us." And isn't that what it's all about?

There's only one word that could properly describe Maggie Sottero's latest collection: Shimmer. Whether it was a slinky beaded vintage-inspired sheath or intricate cap-sleeve lace fit-and-flare, each wedding dress that walked Maggie Sottero's Spring 2014 runway was touched by romantic and glamorous twinkling embellishments, bedazzled gems, and light-catching crystals.

As for the silhouettes, high necklines and embellished sleeves were paired with revealing cowl backs. For every breezy shape a dramatic blush ball gown or black-lace adorned mermaid dress followed. Fabric-wise it was all about balance: heavy laces and beaded chiffon overlays were softened by blush and gold satin slips. The gilded finishes gave the range an undoubtably luxe feel.

With so much intricate beadwork in geometric patterns it should come as no surprise that the collection was inspired by "iconic elements of the 20s," said the designer, which included "dropped-waist Deco designs" and "jewelry-inspired beading."
