Saying yes to your dream wedding dress may seem like the most important shopping decision you'll ever make — until you come to the shoes. In Miami, anything goes as brides often hit the aisle barefoot (as well as in five-inch Louboutins). Just as with your dress, shoe shopping is all about style, comfort, and price point, so if you've been waiting for that right time to splurge on designer heels, now's the moment to go all out. Here are a few of the best boutiques and bridal salons known for their showstopping selection of shoes sure to complete your picture-perfect wedding day look.

This Couple’s Timeless Wedding Was Classic Miami

Florida, Miami, Real Weddings  Comments Off on This Couple’s Timeless Wedding Was Classic Miami
Oct 062016

There's something irresistible about a wedding inspired by Old Miami. The landmark hotels, crisp black-and-white color schemes, and vibrant pops of green? Well, put those pieces all together and you'll be transported to another time. That's exactly what Carly and Devin wanted to do when they began planning their February 6, 2016, wedding at the Raleigh Hotel in Miami Beach. The pair met at the University of Florida and got engaged on a trip to Santorini in May of 2015. Says Carly, "I made Devin repeat everything he'd said because I thought he was joking and hadn't processed a single word!"

They didn't want a traditional ballroom, but knew their 225 guests would need ample room to party. Between the sprawling outdoor space and the penthouse (perfect for an after party!), Carly and Devin knew the Raleigh was exactly what they'd been seeking. Soft, flowing fabrics, white flowers with touches of greenery, and sparkling lights set the scene, while a clear tent protected everyone from the rain. JCG Events created a timeless, romantic celebration with the perfect amount of Miami flair, and Merari Photography was there to capture every detail. Take a peek — you'll totally fall in love!

Though Carly didn't have the "Aha!" moment you see on TV, she compared every wedding dress she tried on to this silk crepe and lace Reem Acra gown. "I customized the dress a lot, changing the neckline and adding full sleeves, so there were moments where I had to have faith that it would be exactly what I wanted in the end," says the bride. "There were times when I was worried about some of the changes we made, but when it was all done, it was absolute perfection." She paired the finished product with nude Christian Louboutin pumps that ended up looking much better than they felt. "Do yourself a favor: Choose comfortable shoes!"

When Carly couldn't find the right wedding band, she turned to her bridesmaid, a gemologist in New York — and the very same person who created the bride's engagement ring. "She helped me design the perfect stack: A thin platinum and diamond band and a yellow gold rope band with our initials and a stone from my great grandmother's pin on the inside," Carly describes.

The couple's invitation suite featured modern lettering and gold-accented palm leaves, setting the scene for the Miami celebration to come.

Devin wore a classic Hugo Boss tuxedo with a white bow tie. Carly's cathedral-length veil featured lace accents that matched the bodice of her wedding dress, while her off-the-shoulder neckline was flattered by a romantic updo. The bride's all-white bouquet featured roses and a gold ribbon around the stems.

The nude-backed lace panels on the hips of Carly's fit-and-flare wedding dress added a modern, fashion-forward touch to the more traditional styling. Her bridesmaids wore two-piece sage-hued dresses from Show Me Your MuMu. "Finding something that was flattering on everyone was a challenge, but in the end they looked beautiful. It was flowy and romantic, but not too bohemian," says Carly.

The groomsmen donned classic tuxedos, while the flower girls wore white lace dresses and the ring bearers wore trousers and black suspenders. "We weren't sure if the youngest ring bearer was going to make it down the aisle," says the bride, "but they all made it and looked adorable!"

The ceremony took place on the hotel's pool deck, where a weathered wood chuppah was flanked by gold lanterns.

"Our ceremony was non-denominational, though we did incorporate Jewish traditions like the chuppah and the breaking of the glass," says Carly. The officiant was Devin's late father's best friend, who is also a well-known contemporary poet. "It made our ceremony so unique, and was a beautiful way to honor Devin's father's memory."

Cocktail hour took place around the pool, with guests lounging on comfortable furniture and sipping a decidedly Miami-inspired signature cocktail: A classic Mojito. An oversized framed mirror displayed table numbers, set up on a pathway along the beach.

While the original plan was to dine beneath a "tent" of strands of icicle lights, a rainstorm meant a clear-topped tent was totally necessary. "I was so worried about the weather leading up to the wedding, but promised myself I'd be zen on our wedding day," says Carly. "When it finally poured, it ended up being so magical! And I loved the way the tent reflected all the lights."

Round tables, surrounded by black chivari chairs, were topped with centerpieces that combined white roses, hydrangeas, and astilbe with dark calla lilies.

Texture was added to the tables with garden-style centerpieces in mismatched vases. Anemones echoed the décor's black accents, while dusty miller and eucalyptus tied into the bridesmaids' dress hue.

Dinner began with a salad that included locally-made stracciatella cheese, followed by either seared Ahi tuna or braised short ribs. Before guests tucked into slices of wedding cake, they also were treated to a plated chocolate and salted caramel confection.

"The hora was insane!" says Carly. "Every single person was on the dance floor, and there was so much energy. It set the mood for the rest of the night."

To keep the party going, Carly and Devin hired a DJ accompanied by a three-piece band. "Everyone loved the saxophonist," the bride remembers.

The four-tiered naked cake was decorated with fresh roses and ferns. The rosé champagne cake, with sweet cream frosting, was a soft pink hue on the inside!

"I completely forgot about booking a photo booth until the last second," says Carly. "My parents told me to forget about it because it was too late, and then surprised me with one at the wedding!"

The bride and groom, who honeymooned in Belize, can't stress how important it is to love your rain back-up as much as your outdoor wedding plan. "We chose the driest date possible and still had a near monsoon on our wedding night," says Carly. "Thankfully, we loved the look of the clear tent!"

Looking around Miami, it may seem like everyone spends their days bronzing on the beach. This may be true for some, but the real secret is finding a quality spray tan for just as organic of a glow — minus all those harmful UV rays. Even with all of its natural sunlight, there are as many tanning salons as there are Starbucks on Miami's streets, but these five have been given a seal of approval by both experts and celebs. Here are our top spots for a quick, streak-free spray tan in Miami before your wedding.

Forever Tan
Tack on a tanning session during the bachelorette party, bringing the airbrush experts straight to you. Forever Tan's streak-free process starts with European Brushing to remove dead skin cells so your tan looks smooth and stays longer. You'll be left with that sun-kissed golden glow that's guaranteed to last up to 10 days. Read real brides' reviews here!

Solar Intoxication
Calling Solar Intoxication a tanning salon doesn't do it justice. The boutique is more than the run-of-the-mill variety scattered around South Beach. Equipment is all state-of-the-art, and this includes the full-body Versa Spa spray tanner. Step inside the open-air system and in just a few minutes you'll come out glowing and moisturized with the tan of your choice.

When it comes to wedding entertainment, Miami's "anything goes" spirit reigns strong. We've polled local planners and experts to discover some of the more extravagant entertainment orders requested by Miami brides — that bring a bit of the city's spirited flair for an over-the-top party.

1. Champagne-Pouring Aerial Silk Dancers
It's your wedding day so why shouldn't people be swinging from the chandeliers celebrating? Bring in the experts for this one, with aerial silk dancers swinging from trapeze-like chandeliers (lined with champagne instead of lights, of course). These skilled servers head toward the ground — only to skillfully pour a glass of bubbly for your guests.

Mandarin Oriental Miami's Social Catering Director Victoria Chase has also seen brides take this one step further, kicking off customary toasts with a classic Champagne sabering — a French tradition during the times of Napoléon — performed by a sommelier or the groom himself. Read real brides' reviews here!

2. Swinging Mermaids
Take a cue out of the "Moulin Rouge" playbook with dancers dressed in your theme of choice hanging from the ceiling on swings. Some brides have taken their South Florida locale to heart, transforming their reception at spots like Temple House into a Little Mermaid-themed seascape with real-life versions of Disney's Ariel swinging gracefully from above. Read real brides' reviews here!

3. Video Mapping
Temple House is also South Florida's first venue with permanent 360-degree video mapping projections, meaning your wedding day wish is the audio visual team's command. The venue's four white walls and 6,000-square-foot ceiling can instantly transform into your dream destination, whether you'd like to dance in the streets of Paris or be transported to the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. Read real brides' reviews here!

4. Strolling Table
Instead of a bar cart, serve your guests champagne flutes tableside for a toast from a strolling table — one of TOCA Social's more popular requests — with a bartender dressed Burlesque-style in a very Cinderella-inspired skirt that flows down in tiers. Hold your glasses perfectly in place as she pours the bubbly and hands it off to guests. Read real brides' reviews here!

5. Cigar and Cognac Pairing Station
Turn wedding flavors into an interactive experience with on-site cigar "baristas" showing off their craft while also providing the perfect after-dinner drink pairing with cognac. You'll be bringing a taste of Miami's quintessential Latin American flair to the wedding reception, all while impressing your guests.

BRIDES Florida: 8 City-Centric Tunes for Your Miami Wedding Playlist

Florida, Local, Miami, Music, Wedding Music, Wedding Reception  Comments Off on BRIDES Florida: 8 City-Centric Tunes for Your Miami Wedding Playlist
Sep 042016

Brides all over the world know that the key to getting guests up and dancing at a wedding is fun, catchy tunes. Luckily, Miami brides have a variety of hits to choose from. These fun, beachy melodies are the perfect Miami-themed songs to make sure every guest at the wedding is having a wonderful time. From nostalgic fun beats like "Miami" by Will Smith to classic songs like "Beyond the Sea" by Bobby Darin, the dance floor will be the place to be if you add any of these to your playlist.

"Miami" by Will Smith
Smith's 1997 single off of Big Willie Style brought us an infectious dance beat and a celebration of Miami's rich diversity. "Miami" won the MTV Video Music Award for "Best Male Video" in 1999. Play this popular hit at your wedding for a little nostalgia with girlfriends as you reminisce about your TRL years.

"Miami" by the Counting Crows
Another throwback, "Miami" by the Counting Crows, is a great low-key, laid-back song to play at cocktail or dinner hour as guests are sipping their drinks, eating, and mingling.

"Move Shake Drop" by Pitbull featuring Flo Rida
The ultimate merge of Florida rappers, this one should be played late in the night as it has quite the club feel. Listen to it once — and you'll be dancing in your seat. But let's be serious — any song by Pitbull is pretty fitting for a wedding in the 305.

"Miami" by Bob Seger
Previously heard on an episode of Miami Vice, this song celebrates the hope and optimism many have when they move to this vibrant city. A great pick for holding your glass high and toasting to the newlyweds post-speech.

"Only in Miami" by Bette Midler
This song is sure to please parents and grandparents alike. The tropical feel of the song has a true Floridian vibe, and the song — which tells the story of a girl who longs to be back in her native Cuba — was also previously featured on Miami Vice.

"Kokomo" by The Beach Boys
The quintessential beach song, this one is sure to invoke memories among every wedding guest over five. The 1988 song from their album Still Cruisin' is one to be remember, that's for sure.

"Beyond the Sea" by Bobby Darin
An ideal song to slow dance to, Darin's single was released in 1959 — just as swing style was fading. Little ones may remember the song from Disney's Finding Nemo, but after listening to the song, people of all ages will be excited to be in a city so close to the ocean.

"Under the Boardwalk" by The Drifters
If your wedding guest list has a lot of native Floridians, this needs to be on your must-play list. Essential for a beach wedding, this popular summer song by will get everyone in a mellow vibe pre-ceremony.

Best Southern Bridal Salons

Photo: Maddison Row Bridal Chic; Virgil Bunao Photography

Finding the right wedding dress may be trial-and-error, but finding a bridal salon shouldn't be. Our editors polled more than 1,500 brides to discover the places with the prettiest dresses (from the designers like Carolina Herrera, Mira Zwillinger, and Houghton, just to name a few!), nicest consultants, and chicest spaces from coast to coast. Every single shop on this list is a true standout in style, service, and atmosphere whether it's the white dress mecca in your state or a gem in the middle of nowhere (we didn't judge!). Get ready for our curated, tested, and fully endorsed list of The Best Bridal Salons in America. Here, our editors narrow down the best bridal salons in the South. Happy shopping!

Ivory & White Bridal Boutique, Birmingham, Ala.
The consultants at this Mountain Brook mainstay are "thoughtful, detail oriented, and stylish," reported one southern belle. "They were able to expertly tie my vision to the beautiful dresses available in the salon," raves another.

Hitched Bridal Couture, Washington, D.C.
The above-and-beyond staff at this Georgetown staple got perfect reviews. Take it from one same-sex couple: "They celebrated us and guided us to dresses that would complement each another. They even pulled my wife's pick from the rack so I wouldn't be tempted to try it."

Chernaya Bridal House, Miami
No need to hit Drybar before your appointment: Priscilla, whom one bride called "the sweetest person ever," is handy with a bobby pin and happy to give a quick updo before she guides you to your dream Elie Saab or Angel Sanchez.

Ever After Miami, Miami
International and local brides agree that this dress mecca is worth the trip because of its seriously chic owner, killer gown selection, and in-house alterations shop/atelier, where "there's no limit to what you can do to customize your dress."

The Collection Bridal, Winter Park, Florida
With some of the best couture gowns around (Vera Wang, Inbal Dror), this light-filled store on Park Avenue wowed reviewers and passersby alike. "When I stepped in the front window during my final fitting, people came in from the street to tell me how beautiful I looked," says a satisfied bride.

Joan Pillow Bridal Salon, Atlanta and Houston
In the South, this salon (with two locations) is the spot to score in-demand designers, like Oscar de la Renta, but don't mistake sophisticated for stuffy. "They didn't bat an eyelash when my young daughter and stepdaughter touched every dress in the store," says one bride.

The Sentimentalist, Atlanta
Down-to-earth brides heart this whimsical shop in Midtown's Berkeley Park, citing the cozy cottage location, two cool chicks who own it, and "unique inventory of modern and antique-feeling" gowns.

Blanc Bridal Couture, New Orleans
It may be the new kid on Magazine Street, but this glam salon is gaining traction, thanks to its bend-over-backward consultants, including one a reviewer was legit girl-crushing on.

Garnish Boutique, Baltimore
Self-proclaimed "Garnish girls" gushed about the "one-on-one experience" and gorge decor at this newly renovated shop a short drive from D.C. "It looks like it came right from my Pinterest board," says a fan.

Hayden Olivia Bridal, Charlotte, N.C.
If you like transparency, this is the place to visit. "Everything is laid out for you" — the dresses, the prices, and the alteration fees — so go ahead and let your squad take a seat while you twirl around in a Hayley Paige or Jim Hjelm gown.

Maddison Row Bridal Chic, Charleston
This salon's high marks come courtesy of the kick-ass seamstresses. "I lost 40 pounds after ordering my dress, and they made what could've been a stressful process seamless, pun intended," says a bride.

Maggie Louise, Collierville, Tenn.
Molly Farrell is the Memphis bride's BFF for good reason: She asks each client to fill out a questionnaire and chat on the phone before she even arrives in the shop. "I love that Molly was able to focus on my individual needs, taste, and style from the get-go," says a fan.

White Dresses, Nashville
It's all about the atmosphere at this year-old salon, which nails it on dressing-room lighting ("insanely flattering") and big-reveal moments. ("The vintage mirror is perfection.")

Warren Barrón Bridal, Dallas
The ladies here always deliver, but especially when a gown is designed by Dallas's own Lela Rose, whom nearly all of our reviewers chose. One says, "My consultant tracked down a dress I had seen at her runway show and had it shipped to the store for me to try on in person."
