Best Bridal Salons of the Western US

Photo: LOHO Bride; Josh Gruetzmacher

Finding the right wedding dress may be trial-and-error, but finding a bridal salon shouldn't be. Our editors polled more than 1,500 brides to discover the places with the prettiest dresses (from the designers like Carolina Herrera, Mira Zwillinger, and Houghton, just to name a few!), nicest consultants, and chicest spaces from coast to coast. Every single shop on this list is a true standout in style, service, and atmosphere whether it's the white dress mecca in your state or a gem in the middle of nowhere (we didn't judge!). Get ready for our curated, tested, and fully endorsed list of The Best Bridal Salons in America. Here, our editors narrow down the best bridal salons in the Western United States. Happy shopping!

Bateau Bridal Boutique, Anchorage, Alaska
With both hot designers and fab consignment finds, this salon is a true standout. But it's really the owner, Tara, our reviewers are obsessed with: "She got on the floor at nine months pregnant to fluff my dress!" says one.

Lillian Lottie Bridal Couture, Scottsdale, Ariz.
Every reviewer was referred by a friend — and has since spread the word herself. And with a huge stock of gowns under $1,500 and consultants who "have your back," that's no surprise. "My rep even called after the wedding to see how everything went," says one customer.

Erin Cole Couture Bridal, Costa Mesa, Calif.
Sure, SoCal brides could buy directly from a designer salon in Beverly Hills, but the ladies we talked to came here instead because of the awesome alterations team. "I'm a size 16, and they made me feel like Vera Wang designed my dress just for me," says one.

The White Flower Bridal Boutique, San Diego
Brides count shopping here, with its super-fun vibe (think paper umbrellas on the ceiling and Selena Gomez on the speakers) and "a team that really cares," as a highlight of planning. In fact, one says, "I wanted to invite the staff to my wedding!"

Jin Wang, San Francisco
Designer Jin Wang's thing is a modern-meets-classic aesthetic, and her penthouse oozes that with cases of statement jewels, floor-to-ceiling windows, and gowns from the likes of Angel Sanchez.

LOHO Bride, San Francisco
Owner Christy Baird's specialty: a bride who wants to rock something cool and unique on her wedding day. (It's very Solange.) In San Fran and now L.A., her customers snatch up looks from Rime Arodaky and Houghton. Says one, "Forget the whole princess thing; this place makes you feel like a woman."

Anna Bé, Denver
This Front Range favorite is a go-to for chic Colorado brides, thanks to its "nearly endless selection" of the designers you love (Berta, Anna Maier) and up-and-coming ones you need on your radar stat (Sareh Nouri, Tara LaTour).

Little White Dress Bridal Shop, Denver
You'll be finding more than a LWD at this downtown salon, which is basically the coolest dress shop ever. Why? It's located in a restored church that's spacious and awesome, and it's the only place in the state selling J. Mendel and Naeem Khan.

Velvet Bride, Missoula, Mont.
Some Montana brides trekked 400 miles on mountain roads to shop the gorge gowns (from Leanne Marshall, Willowby, and more), vintage jewels, and uber-feminine lingerie.

Swoon... A Bridal Salon, Reno, Nev.
Go-big-or-go-home types will get lightheaded over pristine samples from ball-gown favorites Hayley Paige and Lazaro. And the owner knows wedding dresses; she literally wrote her graduate thesis on them.

Ania Collection, Portland, Oreg.
Grab your gals and head here to choose between Theia and Watters for yourself and a rainbow of gowns for your 'maids. Take it from this client: "There's a bridesmaids' dress for every price point, every size, and every style."

The Dress Theory, Seattle
Calling all cool girls! This airy boutique features a unique collection (Truvelle, Claire Pettibone) that's hand picked and carefully edited.

Alta Moda Bridal, Salt Lake City
Indecisive? Don't fret if you're torn between that Katie May and a Yolan Cris because the salesladies here are, in a word, patient. "I must've tried on my final two dresses 100 times each, and they didn't pressure me once," says a bride.

As you get ready to dive headfirst into a weekend jam packed with wedding planning, we figured you a healthy dose of big-day inspiration to get the creative juices flowing. One of our favorite ways to do just that? By seeing the ideas that other couples dreamed up! And lucky for you, our real weddings video channel is packed with just the kinds of events that will leave you dizzy with incredible wedding inspiration. Each week we've been sharing one of our favorite new love stories, and today we're taking you inside Britt and Tim's wooded ceremony and reception in Portland, Oregon.

Cork Creative documented every ultra-cool moment of this couple's Pacific Northwest bash — everything from the couple getting ready straight through to their ceremony and reception was captured to remember forever. And trust us, this is one wedding you will want to revisit again and again. For starters, the couple's venue offered the best of both worlds, offering a scenic, woodland backdrop while also being in super close proximity to the beach. That meant the couple swapped "I do's" surrounded by hundred-year-old trees before heading down to the coast for adorable seaside portraits.

One of the things we love most about Britt and Tim is how unbelievably cool they are. Case in point: Their impeccable personal style. The bride's boho-chic wedding dress featured crocheted details that paired perfectly with her organic bouquet and dainty flower crown. But she wasn't the only one that stole the show! Tim looked dapper in his fitted navy suit and unique floral boutonniere.

We couldn't get enough of how intimate this couple kept their day. They exchanged vows with just their closest friends and family in attendance, making their celebration even more personal and sweet. And with a backdrop that gorgeous, you don't need much to make the celebration incredible!

Wedding season is right around the corner, so we know that engaged couples are on the hunt for beautiful ideas for their weddings. As much fun as it is to scroll through wedding blogs and spend an afternoon pinning your dream celebration, it's even better to see how all of the inspiration that's out there can come together. One of the best ways to do just that? Our real weddings video channel, that's packed with gorgeous videos of couples' parties. Each week we've been taking you inside our favorite love story, and today we're going behind the scenes of Carson and Jenna's lakeside bash.

SLF Weddings was there to capture every garden-inspired element of this pretty outdoor wedding overlooking Oregon's Lake Oswego. While their open-air venue certainly lent itself to a dreamy, flower-filled style, we love how this couple brought their inspiration to life. The bride's romantic eyelet lace gown was the perfect fit for Jenna and Carson's relaxed venue, and her bouquet could have been picked from the many manicured gardens where they celebrated.

Pro tip: If your venue comes equipped with a stunning estate home and a crystal-clear lake, you should take advantage of both! And that's exactly what Jenna and Carson did. Their ceremony backdrop was just about as petty as can be. The newlyweds even further utilized the near perfect property by stopping for photographs on the lush lawns and between the flowering patios.

When it came time to make their way towards the reception, Jenna and Carson used the bus ride to their venue to get the party going. They filled their transportation with glittering gold balloons and laughed with their bridesmaids and groomsmen. The reception itself looked like tons of fun too, but our favorite element had to be their gilded cake. Three-tiers of cake were covered with gold foil and faux flowers for a glam — yet elegant! — look.

Sometimes in the great search for that one perfect dress, you don't even know where to begin. The answer? With an appointment at a top-notch bridal salon. In our new August/September 2015 issue (on newsstands now!) we call out the best 50 bridal salons — big and small, luxury and budget-friendly, boho and traditional — across America. How did we go about creating such a list? We asked more than 1,100 real brides nationwide to weigh in on the best spots to find that dream wedding dress by rating and submitting their own gown-shopping experience. From precious, personalized boutiques in the South to giant wedding dress meccas in the Northeast to intimate indie shops in California, we found them all. So take note, brides-to-be! These are our readers' favorite bridal boutiques in the West.

Bateau Bridal Boutique, Anchorage, Alaska
A chalkboard sign with your name greets you at this one-bride-at-a-time salon. It also has a consignment room, where some happy reviewers found their dream dress for way less than retail.

Lillian Lottie Couture, Scottsdale, Ariz.
"The salon is beautiful, and I was able to find my gown without spending a stupid amount of money," says a bride of this shop, which carries 400-plus gowns by popular labels like Allure Bridals, Pronovias, and Casablanca.

Erin Cole Couture Bridal, Costa Mesa, Calif.
Erin Cole is known for her eponymous accessories line, so expect the jewelry and veils to be on point. But what draws brides from as far away as Dubai are the gowns — think Monique Lhuillier and Carolina Herrera — and the expert seamstress. "She replaced the back zipper with 24 buttons. It looked flawless!" says a bride.

The White Flower, San Diego
At this chic and cheerful salon, paper parasols hang above styles by Hayley Paige and Lazaro. Brides love the friendly vibe and the fact that the shop is divided into two salons: one for gowns under $2,500, one for gowns over.

Loho Bride, San Francisco
This shop caters to cool girls, offering indie designers like Daughters of Simone and Bo & Luca and a custom soundtrack for your appointment. "They found out I like '90s R&B and played TLC my whole fitting," says a delighted bride.

Marina Morrison, San Francisco
This airy space above Union Square carries all the wedding heavyweights, from Marchesa to Mira Zwillinger, and features a crack alterations team: "I was stressed my strapless gown would slip, but it stayed put all night," says a bride.

Anna Bé, Denver
This salon deftly mixes high-end labels (Sareh Nouri, Tara LaTour) with wallet-friendly lines (Watters, Gemy Maalouf). "My budget was on the lower end, but they still treated me like a VIP," says a fan.

Little White Dress Bridal Shop, Denver
"The staff made me feel treasured every time I came in," says a bride of this salon, the only one in Colorado to carry Rivini and Claire Pettibone — the label Mark Zuckerberg's better half, Priscilla Chan, snagged when she shopped here for her wedding.

Willow Bride, Whitefish, Mont.
This Rockies salon features in-demand names like Tara Keely and Sarah Seven. "I'd just had a baby, so I wasn't at my best," says a bride. "They helped me find a dress that made me feel beautiful."

Couture Bride, Las Vegas
"The staff treated me like family. They still keep in touch!" says a fan. The owner is a former Vera Wang exec, so you know the gowns are gorge: Think Anna Maier Couture and, natch, Vera.

Divine Designs Bridal Boutique, Portland, Oreg.
"I went to five salons in town. Divine had the prettiest gowns by far," raves a bride who swooned over styles by Elizabeth Fillmore, Anne Barge, and Liancarlo.

The Dress Theory, Seattle
"There was no taffeta, no cookie-cutter dresses," says a bride of this cozy boutique, with designers like Temperley London and Theia (and branches in Nashville and San Diego). "Every dress was unique!"
