Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the most regal-looking bride of all? You in a collared wedding dress, of course.

Many of our favorite wedding dress designers — from Marchesa to Naeem Khan — sent sophisticated wedding dresses down their most recent bridal runways featuring collar necklines. And, to be honest, this look isn't the shocking. More covered up designs have been in style ever since Kate Middleton walked down the aisle at Westminster Abbey three years ago. From long sleeves, to illusion necklines, and most recently capes, modesty is a statement designers and brides are looking to make.

Whether it's a lace addition to an illusion or a bejeweled accent to a heavily embroidered dress, collars add an air of elegance to a gown's overall design. Plus, it's great for religious ceremonies or perfect for the more traditional bride looking to feel beautiful but covered-up.

Want to look like a modern-day Marie Antoinette? Take a look at some of these on-trend designs.

Naeem Khan: Khan's collar design is essentially the best jacket you'll ever own. The twinkling V-neck organza dress, with a visible seam down the front, is a striking design. Translation: Everyone will be looking at you.

Cape Trend

Love the idea of something trailing behind you as you walk down the aisle, but want something more unique than the traditional veil or train? Cue capes, one of the most popular (and unexpected) trends from this past bridal runway season.

Perfect for ensuring a dramatic entrance, plenty of our favorite designers featured gowns with these dramatic cover-ups in their latest wedding dress collections. And the adornment isn't just for fashion-forward brides looking to make a style statement on their big day — capes are a great alternative for ladies who need a modest layer for a religious ceremony, but want the flexibility of removing that layer for the reception.

And while a blinged-out, full length layer is certainly glam (hello, feather-hemmed Naeem Khan), there's more subdued, sheer lace caplets out there, too.

Here, a few standout capes from the recent bridal runways. We certainly hope this red carpet-inspired trend continues to pop up in the wedding world!

Naeem Khan: As we mentioned above, this cape is nothing short of statement making. Adding even more bling to an already shimmery sheath, we love how luxe this look is. Plus, those feathers at the bottom make it even more formal (and fun!).

Mira Zwillinger: This ever-so-sheer cover adds a bashful accent to an already ethereal design. The gorgeous leaf embroidery remains consistent on both pieces.

Angel Sanchez: Calling all '70s-obsessed brides-to-be, this billowing cape with a high collar screams disco diva — in the most wedding-worthy way possible. Like Zwillinger's, the floral embroidery mirrors that of the gown's.

In addition to her signature show-stopping details, Maggie Sottero's Fall 2014 bridal runway flaunted new, softer elements and fresh silhouettes.

Forever glam, Sottero's latest gowns featured shimmering details in a variety of shapes: Scalloped beading recalled the vintage-inspired dresses she's embraced over the past few seasons, while brocades, embellished lace, and completely beaded bodices created a regal finishing touch. Whether it was a ball gown with a voluminous skirt and full-on sparkling top or a sleek satin mermaid design with a rhinestone belt, the hint of shine made for a super-luxe collection.

As for the softer pieces, Sottero debuted a few new exciting looks including a cutout, off-the-shoulder sleeve, which created a wonderful draped effect. Blushes, muted grays, and rich ivories also refreshed the range's romantic side.

Leave it to Carolina Herrera to send some of the most sophisticated wedding dresses in the bridal landscape down her Spring 2015 bridal runway. The design element du jour this go-round? Lace, lace, and more lace (the runway's backdrop was even painted with motifs of the classic bridal fabric). And when the lovely wedding-standby wasn't used on gowns, other romantic details — such as airy tulle mermaid skirts and subtle glistening embellishments — graced each design.

A few of our favorite details include a Chantilly lace cape — the show's opener — two-tone lace dresses, shimmering appliqués and intriguing necklines like a scalloped strapless top and princess-worthy off-the-shoulder.

With details like these at the forefront, it's easy to see how Herrera was inspired by "softness and grace, created by the effects of layering, lace treatment and silk silhouettes." Her inspiration statement also explained: "Carolina Herrera designed this collection inspired by the Bride and how she experiences the dress. For her, hidden luxuries abound — tulle layered over embellished Chantilly and Guipure lace, over silk chiffon, supple corseting, hand-stitched seaming detail, placed laser-cut lace motifs and embroideries all follow the feminine form. The effect is romantic and sensual."

Kenneth Pool sent their signature body-skimming silhouettes and glam details down their Spring 2015 bridal runway — with a few fun surprising details. The slightest lace illusion covered sweetheart necklines, while dainty appliqués adorned nearly sheer backs. The plunging statement backs truly stole the show thanks to the eye-popping embellishments, which complemented the seemingly tame fronts.

The slim-fitting silhouettes — be it a silk sheath or curve-hugging mermaid — were contrasted by romantic touches such as antique-looking lace and bursts of tulle.

"Soft and sexy is the spirit of the season, as the Kenneth Pool woman re-imagines her bold confidence and love for dramatic flair, with a refreshing embrace of subtlety. Proving its power and allure, lace is the defining embellishment of the collection — creating sensuous silhouettes and seductive shapes against the form," read the designer's inspiration statement. "Signature new embellishments include miniaturized crystals and sequins that offer an enchanting quiet glimmer."

Oscar de la Renta stuck to his classic polished aesthetic, but with a playfully tropical twist for this year's Spring 2015 bridal runway season. Cotton eyelet and a bikini graced barefoot models amongst the mikado trumpet gowns and shimmering, heavily embroidered organza dresses with illusion necklines.

While the runway show began with the Hawaiian wedding-ready eyelet, it quickly transformed to showing body-conscious silhouettes crafted from more formal fabrics and even more eye-catching detail-work. One thing that rang true throughout the entire range, though, was an overwhelming feeling of romance — whether it was a cotton cap-sleeve A-line dress, begging to be worn for a beach elopement, or a glistening extra formal silk ball gown with ruffled sleeves.

Even when heavier fabrics — such as silk faille, satin, and mikado — were used, they were offset with free-flowing graduated A-line skirts, whimsically full shapes, and airy layers of tulle.

Set in the enchanted scene of an aspen wood, Naeem Khan's Spring 2015 wedding dress presentation was all about the details. A red carpet vet, Khan recently made his first foray into the bridal world with his Fall 2014 collection. Both collections have made one thing very clear: Naeem Khan is the master of the minute. From the embroidered beadwork to ribbon-like threading and a ton of appliqué, each design continues to surprise with its endless intricacies.

Naeem Khan's latest assortment of gorgeous gowns features one for every kind of bride. The romantic was represented by a number of tulle A-line and mermaid dresses, while the modern glamour girl would gravitate towards the pink-tucked body-conscious trumpet, warrior princess-like beaded sheath, and gold-lined bodice on an organza gown with an illusion neckline.

He also played with a variety of pieces from a boho cape to a zipped-up high V-neck sheath that resembled a well-tailored jacket.

The end result? One-of-a-kind wedding gowns that are high fashion and utterly gorgeous.

Watch: Rivini By Rita Vinieris’s Spring 2015 Bridal Runway Show

Ethereal, glamorous, and modern — three words that aren't usually found side-by-side but somehow joined forces beautifully on Rivini's Spring 2015 bridal runway. Whether it was an updated illusion neckline with a sparkly stripe embellishment or a shimmering sheath with geometric appliqés, Rita Vinieris hit all of the bridal high notes with her latest collection.

Vinieris loves playing up verticality of her dress's elongated bodices, and this season was no exception: Leafy embellishments and sparkly stripes placed in art deco-like geometric formations ran up and down the gowns' torsos. There was also a hint of pop culture influence spotted on the runway when a lace brocade found itself on top of a completely nude underlay, a very familiar look to Beyoncé's much-discussed Grammy dress.

When she wasn't playing with romantic ethereal illusions, she mastered clean modern lines, sporty sleeves, and daring V-necklines. No matter how of-the-moment a dress was, though, each was topped off with a glam shimmering finish.

To solidify her runway show as on-trend? Vinieris had her models grab audience members during the finale and take selfies. It doesn't get more 2014 than that!

Christos's signature ethereal designs were updated with an antique twist this bridal runway season: light-as-air tulle was complemented with delicate lace layers. Both simultaneously vintage and modern, the dresses on the Christos Spring 2015 runway are fit for the whimsical, as well as the classically romantic bride.

Christos also sent fresh new colors down the runway including pale blush, mocha, and vanilla — a warm and welcomed change for the label. The slightest bit of sparkle also made its way onto the three-dimensional floral embellishments creating a subtle glam effect. Like Amsale, delicate, barely-there illusions added to the overall gentle elegance of the entire collection.

Like beloved runways past, Christos's collection remained as fluid as ever. The cascading ballerina-like tulle skirts, dainty floral appliqués, and modern illusion necklines were fresh and feminine.

"With a gentle nod to the past but fresh with the spirit of today, this spring the Christos bride embraces an updated take on modern vintage," the design house's inspiration statement said. "Delicate laces, many with novel details and patterns, layer effortlessly, with tulle and point d'esprit breathing fluidity and dimension into the body. Embellishments are equally charming as miniature florets sparkle gently as they cascade down silhouettes, creating a hint of antique-chic."

Olivia Palermo Brides in Monique Lhuillier

Photo: Matt Jones for BRIDES

If there's one thing our June/July cover girl Olivia Palermo knows, it's style. The star has garnered a serious fashion following thanks to her enviably chic ensembles. So naturally, we can't wait to see what kind of wedding dress she'll wear when she marries her equally gorgeous fiancé German model and photographer Johannes Huebl. In the meantime, though, we have our stunning fashion spread of her in everything from a short ruffled Marchesa dress to a billowing blush Monique Lhuillier gown.

To help speed up the dress shopping experience, we're taking Palermo's own advice and looking to the most recent runways for the designs that would look best on the beloved bride-to-be and cover star. Here, our picks from the Spring 2015 bridal runways for Palermo.

Monique Lhuillier Spring 2015 Wedding Dress - Olivia Palermo Dress Predictions

Monique Lhuillier
Olivia loves her layers. What better way to satisfy that signature of hers than with a dress that features a removable tulle overskirt? Also, the lace illusion sleeves look as polished as one of her many chic jackets.

Reem Acra
In addition to layers, Olivia tends to wear sleeves, which is why this Reem Acra look would be another fitting choice. The stark contrast between the delicate lace bodice and skirt also creates the illusion of separates, another personal fave of Palermo's.

If Olivia is to change into a shorter dress for the reception, we totally see her rocking this metallic shift from Jenny Packham. The high neck and heavy, armor-like embellishments make it both on-trend and high-fashion.

Marchesa
This Marchesa mermaid gown is a more polished option for Palermo. The three quarter length sleeves give coverage, while the antique lace and subtle trumpet skirt make for a very sweet, understated, and, of course, stylish bridal look.

If Olivia wants to go for full-on fashion, this slim-fitting long-sleeve lace sheath from Vera Wang is just the ticket. Both bridal and couture, this gown would fit right into Olivia's sure-to-be cosmopolitan ceremony and reception.
