It's true that your wedding day beauty starts from the inside out. Eating, and drinking, right is the first step in achieving that coveted bridal glow. And that's where Sakara Life — the plant-based meal delivery service with a cult like following — comes in.

If anyone can convince you to drink Sakara Beauty Water (aptly named; it tastes like roses), it's the preternaturally radiant creators themselves, Whitney Tingle and Danielle DuBoise. The friends started the meal delivery service in 2012 after stressful hours on Wall Street (Tingle) and a slew of unsuccessful fad diets (DuBoise) left them dull and lackluster. Fast forward five years, and not only have they gained a celeb following that includes heavy hitters like Oprah and Gwyneth Paltrow, but they've also gotten engaged in the process. On the heels of DuBoise's wedding, and in the throws of Tingle planning her own, the girls share their bridal beauty secrets.

1. First and foremost, do you. "I wore a custom Wendy Nichol slip dress, duster, and choker—very me," says DuBoise, who had an intimate dinner to celebrate her City Hall wedding. She let her hair air dry with macadamia oil on the ends to prevent frizz, and stuck to her favorite tried-and-true makeup: Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Cassis ($28), W3LL People Expressionist Mascara ($22), and Universalist Multi-Stick Luminous ($24), a brand she loves for its clean, organic ingredients.

2. A healthy body can be your best accessory. "I always told myself I'd be in the best shape of my life for my wedding," Tingle says. "I'm using a new company in New York City, wellns.com, that lets you select a personal trainer who resonates with your workout style. Mine has a background in Pilates and Physique 57 and comes to my house before work. I'd rather spend the money on getting fit than on an expensive dress, because when you feel sexy in your body, anything looks good on you."

The beauty gurus gave us a couple of their favorite recipes. Read on for some of Sakara Life's top rated.

A Bridal Beauty Treatment That Kills Fat Cells?! We Have All the Deets…

Body Shaping Beauty Treatment

No matter where your approach to pre-wedding diet and exercise places you on the spectrum between bridezilla and bridechilla, it's safe to say every bride-to-be has her own set of problem areas that make getting in shape for the Big Day not exactly stress-free. And while there are plenty of healthy, accessible ways to achieve your best look, sometimes a girl needs a little extra help...

So when we heard acclaimed New York City dermatologist Dr. Dendy Engelman was debuting a next-generation technology in skin tightening and toning, we jumped at the chance to test it out. The noninvasive body-shaping treatment uses the BTL Vanquish ME, a device that emits radio frequencies to send targeted heat under the skin's surface and kill fat cells deep within.

"In comparison to other treatments on the market, BTL Vanquish ME works on both soft, pinchable fat and harder, firmer fat because the machine has a large spot-treatment area to 'melt' it away," Dr. Engleman explains. "Once the fat cells are destroyed and eliminated from the body, they're gone forever, meaning the results are permanent."

Sound too good to be true? Well, I decided to put Vanquish to the test, and here's how it went down: Over a period of six 30 to 45 minute treatments I basically sat around and let the machine do its work. That's right, all you have to do is sit there while the fan-like device is placed over top of the targeted body part, be it your stomach and love handles, upper back, or thighs. (The machine doesn't actually touch the skin, as it can get quite hot, but rather hovers a few inches above it.) The experience is actually quite soothing, and since you can't use a cell phone during treatment — as cellular radio frequencies can interfere with the machine — it's actually a perfect way to decompress and meditate to rid yourself of any pre-wedding stress.

After the third time, I started noticing that my lower abdomen had slimmed out a bit, especially when we combined each treatment with 15 minutes using another gadget called the BTL Cellutone. This device looks like an oversize pen with a flat metal disk on the end that a technician moves across the treated area to provide an oscillating massage therapy (fancy term for "it basically slaps you like a rubber band a hundred times"). The goal is to increase blood supply for better lymphatic drainage, improved elimination of fat cells, and overall smoother results, which definitely took effect a few months after completing my sixth treatment.

See More: Semi-Permanent Bridal Beauty Treatments to Try Before the Big Day

Like all noninvasive therapies, the Vanquish isn't a fool-proof miracle worker, but, as Dr. Engelman explains, you'll achieve maximum efficacy when you maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and drink a ton of water during the two days before and after each treatment. "This isn't a ticket to binge! But it gives you that extra boost to get rid of that stubborn fat," she says.

So while "get perfect bod" shouldn't be on your wedding to-do list, it's good to know well-heeled docs like Dr. Engelman can come to the rescue in a pinch. She recommends planning out four to six treatments at least six months before the wedding, but if you find yourself sweating it out every day to no avail, "It's possible to fit in as many as four treatments one to two months before the Big Day, as long as your schedule allows for last-minute appointments!" she says.

Trust us, we'll make time.

Cost varies by physician, but prices usually run $500 to $750 per session.

How to Choose Wedding Manicure

Wedding dress
? Check. Elegant updo? Tested and approved. Makeup? Your mood board says it all. But what about your nails? Although your wedding day manicure will likely take a backseat when deciding your beauty looks, it's definitely one that should not be overlooked. Think about all of the things that you'll be doing with your fingers on your wedding day — throwing your bouquet, holding your partner's hands, wearing your new wedding band — the list goes on. Your nails need to look as good as ever, but don't sweat it if you haven't given your polish too much thought yet. BRIDES spoke with Essie celebrity nail artist, Michelle Saunders, to find out what you should consider when deciding on a wedding nail look. Here's what she had to say.

1. Always Get A Trial Run
Just like you would for your makeup and hair, you should definitely consider a trial run for your nail look. This will give you the opportunity to test out different colors, lengths, and shapes. Saunders suggests scheduling your first trial appointment at least two months before the big day.

2. Take Inspiration From The Season
You don't have to match your floral theme or paint your nails mauve for fall, but the time of year and the flowers that are in season could help you find inspiration when it comes to choosing a color. "Depending on the season or color scheme, a bride could either keep it classic with a neutral and sheer or go all out with a deep crimson or opaque greige," says Saunders. If you're undecided, go with a tried and true shade. "It's always safe to go with a semi-sheer pink like Essie's 'Ballet Slippers' or slight-opaque creme."

3. Consider Gel Over Regular Nail Polish
The last thing you want to do the day before your wedding is worry about ruining your manicure. If you're up for it, consider a gel to prevent any smudges or chips from happening. What's more, it'll last you at least two weeks after your wedding day. "Gel is a good option especially if there is an extended honeymoon after the wedding," says Saunders.

4. Keep It Simple With The Nail Art
Nail art is all the rage right now, but it doesn't always translate into a timeless wedding day look. That doesn't mean you should skip it if you're into fun designs and a little sparkle, however. "If you are a nail art fan, keep it simple on your wedding day by using a gold or silver metallic (to mimic jewelry) as an accent. I recommend using Essie's 'Good as Gold' or 'No Place Like Chrome.'"

5. Don't Forget Your Toes
Depending on your shoes or dress length, your toes might not even make an appearance on your wedding day. You should still definitely get them painted though. As for color? Saunders believes pedicures are the best place to wear your something blue.

6. Keep An Emergency Kit With You
Should anything disastrous happen to your manicure on the day of your wedding, it would be wise to arm yourself with a handy emergency kit. In it, keep a nail file, a cuticle clipper, hand cream, and of course, the nail polish of your wedding manicure. Essie's new Gel Couture line is a great option for brides because you can reapply the polish without having to use a UV lamp in the event you have a mani emergency.

10 Self-Tanners To Get You Glowing On Your Wedding Day

Self Tanners To Get You Glowing On Your Wedding Day

Just because summer is over doesn't mean you have to say goodbye to sun-kissed skin. A faux glow is a great and safe (zero UV) way to maintain a beautiful bronze into fall—and beyond. And when it comes to your big day, a gorgeous glow is a must. It makes your teeth look whiter and can even create the illusion of being slimmer.

But before you head to store and start scoping out products, there are a few things you need to know. First, not all self-tanners are created equal. Some can you leave looking, well, like an oompa loompa. Second, proper prep (aka exfoliation) and application is the key to success. Third—and this should go without saying, but we will anyway—the color of your complexion matters. If you have fair skin don't overdo it with the deepest shade on the market.

Luckily for bronze-loving brides, there are plenty of products that take the guess work out of the process. So, whether your complexion is fair or olive, you can get flawless, radiant skin for your big day.

As we know, wedding makeup is not one-size-fits-all. Everyone has a different idea of beauty. It's the same with the climate of the place you're getting married. A tropical Hawaiian "I do" requires a different approach than nuptials in the desert of Palm Springs or the mountains of upstate New York or Aspen. As celebrity makeup artist Kirin Bhatty (who works with Freida Pinto and Rosario Dawson) says, "When having an outdoor wedding many times it can feel like your makeup is at war with the elements, but with the right products it doesn't have to be that way." Issues include direct sun, which can blow out your makeup, making it appear you're not wearing any, and can also turn you bright red. According to Jenny Slate's beauty guru, "The key to successful destination wedding makeup is to embrace the environment you are in and let it reflect where you are. If it's hot, embrace the glow; if it's cold, embrace a rosy cheek and matte lip."

If you've planned your vows on an island or a beach, it's critical you take sun care into account. (Supergoop's setting spray provides protection and is mattifying.) "Even if it's overcast you're still vulnerable to the sun's effects," says Bhatty. "Because of the beach, skin and hair will be extra dewy because of the moisture in the air. If you are someone whose makeup tends to run, be on extra alert because it's very hard to maintain in this climate if you have oily skin." To combat that, prep properly. Start with a mattifying moisturizer by Kate Somerville, she says, then Smashbox Primer Light to control shine and force makeup to stay in place. Try a lid primer by NARS to keep shadow from budging, too. Waterproof eyeliners and cream-based shadows (set with a powder) are key — she likes Make Up For Ever's. With those, "You cold jump into the ocean after and your makeup should be just fine," says Bhatty. Seal everything in with Urban Decay All Nighter. Ultimately, she says, "Embrace the glow and don't fight it."

Good news for desert brides: "As far as destination weddings go, dry heat is the easiest to handle," says Bhatty. "Though you can't stop sweating with makeup, you can ensure it looks soft and is long-lasting." In this climate highly moisturized skin is key, since you can easily wind up feeling-and looking-parched. (Make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids leading up to the big day, too.) Bhatty's prep go-to is La Prairie SPF 50, which will protect and also keep the complexion supple, bright and hydrated. Next, use Smashbox's hydrating primer on the cheeks and orbital bones for glow, and primer light on the T-zone to reduce shine. Cream blushes, highlighters and waterproof liners and mascaras "will be your best friend," and will ensure a "beautiful, healthy desert glow."

See More: The Surprising Perks of a Destination Wedding

For a wooded, rustic wedding, sun care is also important (try Kate Somerville SPF 20, which protects sans white cast and is hydrating yet non-greasy) and primer is always critical. "Anytime you're in the elements your makeup is fighting against them to stay on," says Bhatty. Particularly if it's cold, skin can chap, so she advises lots and lots of hydration. (And if it's buggy where you are, remember to pack a natural bug spray that doesn't smell too terrible.) Before any makeup goes on, she likes to use Cle de Peau's sheet masks: "They are really helpful and give you an instant hydration starting point." Afterward, apply creamy products and set them with a powder-based product in the same hue, which will give a one-two punch that should last through the big day. At the end, Bhatty recommends, seal and set the look with rose water and a dusting of Cle de Peau translucent powder in the T-zone. Ultimately, says the makeup artist, it's all about "making your environment work with you, not against you, because the last thing you want is to be touching up every five minutes."

The 5 Best Pre-Wedding Beauty Treatments — and When to Get ‘Em!

Hair & Beauty, Wedding Beauty, Wedding Hair, Wedding Makeup  Comments Off on The 5 Best Pre-Wedding Beauty Treatments — and When to Get ‘Em!
Oct 272016

It goes without saying that on your wedding day you want to look and feel your best. For many brides, that means a pre-wedding diet and workout routine, as well as hair and makeup trials. But before you walk down the aisle, there are a few more beauty-boosting treatments you might want to consider. From lash extensions to teeth whitening, we're getting the scoop from some of the best in the biz, to guarantee you're perfectly groomed and gorgeous on your big day. After all, wedding photos last a lifetime.

Laser Hair Removal
When it comes to tying the knot, there's a lot to think about. The last thing you want to focus on is waxing or shaving. Laser hair removal is a permanent solution for smooth skin. Christian Karavolas, owner of Romeo & Juliette in Midtown Manhattan, recommends starting treatment six to nine months before your wedding date (laser hair removal requires on average six sessions spaced six to eight weeks apart). "Once you do a course of treatment, hair will not be prickly or stubbly. Plus, you won't have to deal with ingrown hairs or irritation." Beach honeymoon, anyone?

Regardless of your hair color, brightening up your 'do is a sure fire way to look fab on your big day. "You don't have to go for a major contrast, but building dimension into your color makes all the difference in photos," says Kristina Barricelli, founder of NYC's Gemini 14 and Hairdo Ambassador. When it comes to color, timing is everything. Barricelli advises brides visit their colorist one week before the big day. "Highlights need about a week — and a few washes — to settle into a naturally luminous color. Any longer than that can start to reveal roots." And if you plan on wearing clip-in extensions on your big day, she recommends bringing them to that appointment, to guarantee a perfect color match."

Teeth Whitening
Want a sparkling smile for your wedding photos? "Professional teeth whitening allows brides to have the brightest smile in the shortest amount of time — with dramatic results in about an hour," says Beverly Hills cosmetic dentist, Kevin Sands DDS (the man the Kardashians trust with their pearly whites). "The beauty of this procedure is that brides can come in a couple weeks or just a few days before their wedding date." And to keep your smile looking its best, Sands suggests avoiding stain-causing foods and drinks, like blueberries, coffee and red wine.

Gel Mani
What better way to show off your engagement (and wedding) ring bling than with a perfectly polished mani? When it comes to your big day, a gel mani is a must. Whereas regular polishes can chip and crack, gel will last a good two to three weeks, when applied properly. "It will hold up to the wedding day craziness and last through the honeymoon," says Nina Werman, owner of NYC nail art mecca, Valley. When it comes to getting your digits prepped for the big day, Werman recommends brides come in a few days before. Opting for a design? She advocates one with negative space at the cuticle. "It helps you get the most out of your gel mani. It'll grow out naturally over the next few weeks, without the noticeable gap between the cuticle and polish."

Lash Extensions
If eyes are the window to the soul, lashes are the curtains. Extensions are the perfect way to take your bridal beauty look to the next level. They create thicker, longer lashes that still look natural. Plus, they look fab in photos! Sabah Feroz, lash expert at NYC's Blink Brow Bar, recommends that brides have a trial, approximately three months out. "There are many different size options, depending on the look you're going for, so a practice run is worthwhile." When it comes to the wedding, she suggest coming in two or three days before. "If you look after them, they'll last for up to six weeks, which means no need for mascara on your honeymoon!"

If you can't get to Beverly Hills for an appointment with Dr. Harold Lancer, you can still reap the benefits of his expertise in the form of Lancer Volume Enhancing Lip Serum. The celebrity dermatologist's advanced lip treatment minimizes the appearance of vertical fine lines while increasing hydration for visibly fuller lips. While the product can define lip contours and highlight your natural lip color on its own, it can also be worn as a foundation under your wedding lipstick to help bright colors pop. GrandLips Lip Plumper

Given the choice, we'll almost always pick a product that works instantly and offers long-term benefits. GrandeLIPS, for example, is a hydrating lip plumper that makes mouths look bigger in three-to-five minutes and increases overall hydration, volume, and firmness in just one month. The vanilla-flavored treatment, which can be worn on its own or under other lip colors, tingles when applied; that's the hyaluronic acid and Volulip™ getting down to business. He popped the question, and you're officially engaged. Now, regardless of how long you plan on enjoying your engagement, you'll be walking down the aisle some day soon —obviously looking like the gorgeous bride-to-be that you are. But why wait until the panic sets in to begin your pre-wedding beauty routine? Check out what you can begin doing right now, to be wedding-ready later.

Set Up a Skin Care Routine
If you want glowing wedding skin and you don't currently have a healthy skin care routine — now is the time to start. Properly cleansing, toning, hydrating and treating your skin is a process that becomes increasingly important as you get older, and even more important as you approach your walk down the aisle. Consult with a dermatologist on which products are the best for you, and stick to the regimen each morning and night — regardless of that pre-wedding exhaustion and craziness. Don't forget the sunscreen!

Does your daily recommended water intake seem completely unattainable? We promise you — it's not. A properly hydrated body is a healthy body, and it's essential to meet your hydration goals daily in order to look and feel your best. Once engaged, wedding planning whirlwind is about to hit hard, and by consuming the right amount of healthy liquids daily you'll be able to sleep easier, and feel better every step of the way.

Give Your Hair Some TLC
As much as you might want to grow out your hair to rock long, flowing locks on your big day — you may be surprised to know that regular trims are essential for healthy wedding hair. Once you know exactly how you'd like to wear your hair for the big day, ask your stylist the proper maintenance and products to use routinely from the moment you've said "yes" to when you've said "I do."

Step Up your Brow Game
Perfect brows don't happen over night. (But we sure wish they did!) Properly maintained brows are the best brows no matter the occasion, but for your wedding? They're a given. We recommend tweezing, waxing, or threading your arches around every three weeks, and when in doubt — consult a professional for the perfect shape, thickness, arch and color you have in mind. The earlier you start training them, the better they'll be on the big day!

Take your Vitamins
You were probably forced to take them as a kid, but now they can be as important as ever to help you reach your beauty and wellness goals before your big day. Want healthy, strong nails and hair? Give Biotin a whirl, or try adding iron into your supplement routine for shinier, thicker locks. For gorgeous skin, Vitamin A can be used topically to help fight wrinkles, and Omega-3 Fatty Acids can help your skin retain moisture and possibly help prevent wrinkles. (Just be sure to always consult a doctor before you begin any supplement routine.)
